Submission Guidelines

All submissions are open.

All submissions should be .doc or .pdf files; written submissions preferably in 12 pt. font, Times New Roman or a similar font, and double spaced (with the exception of poetry).

The Wild Ones is a biannual literary journal of queer fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry. Published as a PFD, it is available for purchase either quarterly by issue or through a yearly subscription.

Stories & Non-fiction

We consider prose up to 5,000 words in length. Only one submission at a time please.

We will consider 2 – 3 poems from a single author, but no more than five pages. Single spaced.

Though we are not currently considering artwork for the magazine (we may in the future), we are accepting submissions of artwork and photography for the covers of our quarterly issues and for publication on our website as web content.

Web Content/Blog Articles

These can either be “traditional” blog posts, in that they are non-fiction, topical, and may be more informal in tone. Some examples of articles include book reviews, interviews, lists, and short biographies or profiles.  Or, you can choose to send us short works of fiction (approximately 500 – 2,000 words), poetry, or one page comics. If your piece doesn’t fit one of these categories, don’t worry! Query us! At this time, we are not interested in political pieces. But! We reserve the right to change our minds or be blown away by amazing writing. We also love op ed or critical work that may discuss topics like culture, social norms, gender, identity or other issues facing our community. Though other submissions are not required to be LGBTQIA in theme, we do ask that blog articles pertain only to LGBTQIA themes, writing, writers, or books.

Please only submit previously unpublished works. Simultaneous submissions are accepted; please notify us as soon as a piece is accepted elsewhere. Rights revert to author upon publication.
